Im Osten Jenfelds deckt sich die Stadtteilgrenze mit der Landesgrenze von Hamburg und Schleswig-Holstein. Im Süden deckt sich die Stadtteilgrenze zwischen Jenfeld und Billstedt mit dem Verlauf der Autobahn (A 24). Dort liegt auch die Autobahn-Anschlussstelle Hamburg-Jenfeld (Ausfahrt Nr. 2).

Im Osten wird Jenfeld vom Schleemer Bach und der in ihn mündenden Barsbek durchflossen, bevor er im südlich angrenzendem Billstedt den Öjendorfer See speist und schließlich in die Bille fließt. Im Zentrum Jenfelds entspringt der Jenfelder Bach, der in Billstedt wiederum in den Schleemer Bach mündet. Außerdem befindet sich im Nordwesten des Stadtteils der Teich vom Jenfelder Moorpark.

Jenfeld verfügt über eine Autobahnauffahrt zur BAB 24.
Diverse Buslinien des HVV verbinden Jenfeld mit der Innenstadt, Wandsbek-Markt, Farmsen, Rahlstedt, Barsbüttel sowie Billstedt.
Nächst gelegene Bahnhöfe sind:
Hamburg-Wandsbek sowie Hamburg-Tonndorf (früher Wandsbek-Ost) der Regionalbahn (R10)
U-Bahn Wandsbek-Markt sowie U-Bahn Farmsen (U1)
U-Bahn Billstedt (U2)
Von 1954 bis 1960 verkehrte die Linie 16 der Straßenbahn zwischen Wandsbek-Markt und Jenfeld.

Mittelpunkt und Trennlinie Jenfelds ist mittlerweile das Jenfelder Einkaufszentrum Jen, in dem verhältnismäßig viel Sicherheitspersonal für Ordnung sorgt.

I think this is where some audiences and some very smart critics have problems with Mann’s digital work, that they are trying to push in when they really should be viewing across. KNIGHT: I’m not arguing that PUBLIC ENEMIES is any more literal or legible than MIAMI VICE in terms of story, but that it’s built in a narrower framework that points one way, given its historical “duty,” and that I find the every-which-way of MIAMI VICE a better attitude with which to marry Mann’s story ideas (or abandonment thereof) with his ramped up aesthetics. That’s my utopia: a mutable one, what Istvan Csicsery-Ronay calls mutopia.
